In my attempt to be a writer that actually gets paid for her work, I am using the venue of the blog to practice my writing skills. I have been using a pen and paper or, more recently, typing stuff into Micosoft Word. Blogging somehow feels more "real." Like real writing. People can actually read this stuff if they are so inclined.
I did not understand blogging AT ALL until very recently. Of course, I was aware of it and had heard of many but hadn't tapped into the blogging community. Why would I want to read other people's junks? I didn't have a clear picture of it till I was sent the blog of a friend's daughter. She writes about her experience as a young wife and the mother of a toddler. It's quite irreverant and often very funny. It's just her personal experience told in her words from her point of view. Sometimes I like them, sometimes I don't. It's the same stuff I write in my journal. It was like a light went on! I have been wanting to write but can't seem to get my head around what that's about. What do I write about? Who would want to read it? Why would they read it? How would they read it? What is IT?? Well, this is the perfect venue to begin my expression as a writer. I'm very excited.
I actually started another blog "Mumbling and Meandering". I've written a couple of things in that one. One is pretty funny - the other two are OK. I've shared that with a few people so they know it's me and that makes me self-conscious. Hence, I'm worried about how it sounds, what language I use, if the punctuation and grammer are correct, etc. etc. etc. With this one I'll write whatever the hell I want. If I want to use the "f" word, I will. Yeah! How Fun!
